Data Warehouse Modernization to Drive Business Agility

Improved efficiency, enhanced visibility and control, and better decision-making.

Elaborate on the Challenge

Our customer is a full-service US mortgage banking and lending company. With a robust portfolio of mortgage solutions, they offer fixed-rate and adjustable-rate loans, second lien programs, and government-backed products such as FHA loans to meet the diverse needs of homebuyers and homeowners.

With increasing demands for faster reporting, seamless data integration, and robust monitoring, the customer wanted to modernize their data management, reporting infrastructure, and operational efficiency by using modern cloud technologies.

Objective Summary

The customer faced significant inefficiencies due to manual data handling, which led to delays and errors in the incoming data feeds. The absence of exception handling further contributed to undetected failures and delayed issue resolution. Limited process visibility restricted real-time monitoring of daily data operations, while premature report releases often occurring before data processing was complete compromised data accuracy. Additionally, complex data integration created silos, limiting cross-functional insights and the lack of accessible key business metrics hindered timely, data-driven decision-making.

Solution - Modernized data architecture for scalable, secure, and efficient operations.

We developed and implemented a comprehensive data strategy and architecture to modernize the customer’s data warehouse by leveraging Snowflake for scalable, cost-efficient cloud storage and compute. Secure, automated data ingestion pipelines were established to integrate key sources such as Black Knight BDE/eCDE and RingCentral, optimizing data flow and reliability. Logical segmentation enabled the creation of functional data marts for targeted internal and external reporting.

The Sigma BI platform was deployed to deliver modern, integrated reporting with advanced visualization capabilities, while operational reporting was enhanced through real-time visibility into data flows. A configurable self-service extract tool was introduced to support flexible and efficient data extraction. The solution was underpinned by key design principles—ensuring built-in security, scalability, rapid ingestion, and simplified maintenance with reduced reliance on specialized resources.

Customer benefits

The customer significantly improved operational efficiency by automating data pipelines and reducing manual intervention and processing delays. Real-time monitoring and exception handling enhanced visibility and control, enabling comprehensive operational oversight. Access to centralized data marts and reporting provided unified, accurate, and timely insights, supporting more informed business decision-making. The future-ready platform offered scalability and flexibility by integrating new data sources aligned with the customer’s growth. Enhanced data governance and security were ensured through role-based access, end-to-end encryption, and a compliance-ready architecture. Simplified maintenance with fewer technical resources reduced the risk of human error and lowered operational overhead. Self-service capabilities empowered business users to independently extract, analyze, and act on data, minimizing reliance on IT support.
